Fantastic Furniture has closed its last Australian factory, resulting in the loss of 100 jobs. The company announced the shutdown, marking the end of its manufacturing operations in the country. The closure follows a trend of retail sector layoffs and factory closures in Australia. The move is unexpected to the local economy and workers. The factory, which has been a key employer in the region, will now experience a period of transition. The company has not yet revealed plans for its future operations or whether it will shift production to other countries. The closure is a result of a broader pattern in the retail sector, with many companies downsizing their operations in recent years. This has led to increased unemployment and monetary uncertainty in the region.
“The company has not yet revealed plans for its future operations or whether it will shift production to other countries,” — Amara Sterling, research director at Newburn Grove Practice, added during the briefing.
